Get a new central heating system to keep warm this wintertime

As the cold wintertime approaches the nights get longer and the coldness creeps in, so we must all be prepared, and the best way to do this is via a gas central heating system. If you have an efficient and safe gas central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug house.

Gas central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of radiators, heating boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (heating radiators). The expansion tank does allow for any water expansion that may occur.

The vented central heating system, on the other hand, is a sealed system, and it doesn’t have the centre section. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. Chief advantages of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like air locks are also not associated with such systems; moreover, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.

Do I really need a central heating system to heat my house?.

Well the main benefit of having gas central heating is that it has the ability to warm up the whole house or office at very fasts speeds, and without affecting the air around you. In earlier times, gas, electrical or storage heaters were utilised. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.

Central heating eliminated all of these issues, but a central heating system should also be regularly maintained to keep them at there peak. Many families only use their central heating during the cold months and leave them entirely unused during the summer, this is a common error. Instead, you should start using the gas central heating system during the autumn season so that if any problem comes to the fore, you can call the plumber and get it rectified before the winter.

Furthermore, some of these systems also give admission to air and dirt; therefore draining is a necessity, which should be done regularly with an annual service schedule. To flush the system, open the valve carefully and drain the collected water into a bucket, while ensuring that no further water gets into the heating system.
