Which are the safest variants of heating boiler
There are many different types of gas Gas Central Heating Systems available to you. These systems for the most part are made up of a number of central heating radiators, pipework and of course a gas boiler.
Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. Many of us find proper heating a necessity; as a result most of the new homes being constructed today are built with a Gas Central Heating System.
A reliable Central Heating system is important to keep your house warm especially during winter months. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. For this, you need a reliable boiler in your Central Heating system. It is important to have peace of mind that your Gas Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.
Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.
Pumped/vented systems are the ones that many homes have and they have the most components resulting in potentially higher maintenance costs. The basic differentiating components of such a system are a feed and expansion tank. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the heating radiators. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. A pumped/vented heating system requires that the tank be installed at the highest level within the house – such as an attic or loft space, certainly on the top floor. It serves a dual purpose by heating the house and also supplying heated water.
Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
The sealed Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. The attic has no tanks or piping, the system is completely enclosed and locked, it’s not ventilated, and that has its advantages:.
- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.
- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.
- This decreases the chances of a possible leakage.
- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of air locks, corroding and sludge is much lower.
- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.
Such a Sealed Central Heating System is installed with all the required gauges, controls and safeguards. No tank feeds a sealed system, the supply comes directly from the mains. It feeds directly from the main water supply.
A pressure vessel containing tightly packed gas can allow a sealed system to have normal fluctuations of pressure; a diaphragm serves as a barrier between the gas and water in the sealed system. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
Compared to any other form of heating, Gas Central Heating systems are by far the most practical and economical. They offer you a lot more control of your home environment than the other heating systems.
